Calling all lovebirds! Last week OpenTable released their list of 25 Most Romantic Cities in America, featuring Birmingham in the #5 spot. And with Valentine’s just around the corner, we think it’s safe to say love is the air. We’ve rounded-up some of the coolest events for couples happening in Birmingham this weekend, so grab your sweetheart, order those dozen roses, and enjoy!

FOR THE ADVENTURERS

Dare to live on the wild side? Birmingham is filled with greenspaces just waiting to be explored. Whether by hike or by bike, you can check out these awesome trails with a special someone by your side. Or if you’re feeling extra bold, grab your boo and zipline through the city in the dark at Red Mountain Park for their special V-Day event.

If you time your adventure just right, you might be able to end up at one of Jones Valley’s most beautiful overlooks just in time for sundown. One of the city’s greatest sundown spots? The top of Vulcan. Not only a great location for snapping some awesome selfies, but for popping the big question as well.

FOR THE CLASSIC ROMANTICS

If adventure is not really your thing, worry not – There are plenty of classic date options to be enjoyed around the city. A good way to start your night with a romantic dinner. While it might be too late to get in on a pre-fixe option, you can still find a great meal for a great deal in Birmingham. And nothing says romance like a round of oysters. Check out what they’re serving up on the half shell at 5 Point Public House Oyster Bar, Gallery Bar 1930, or Highlands Bar & Grill.

After dinner, watch one of of America’s greatest love stories on the big screen at the Alabama Theatre. Or ride on over to the BJCC to see the Alabama Symphony Orchestra perform some of the most popular love songs of our time.

FOR THE KNOWLEDGE BUFFS

Modern love would be nothing without the romance of our past. Visit the Birmingham Museum of Art for a special V-Day edition of their Slow Art Sunday, discussing the famous love story of Hiawatha and Minnehaha.

Or you can venture to the Birmingham Zoo to check out “Woo at the Zoo,” a special event exploring love in the animal kingdom over wine and desserts. There’s even a special feature on dinosaur mating and courtship in anticipation of the Zoo’s “Dino Discovery” exhibit!

FOR THE UNCONVENTIONAL
Think romance is overrated? Yes, there’s even something for you in Birmingham. Make your heart beat and your stomach flutter at Warehouse 31’s “My Bloody Valentine” haunted house. Yes, you read that right – Birmingham actually has a romance-themed haunted house. Feel free to jump into your sweetheart’s arms as you run through this spooky trail!

We want to see how you end up enjoying your weekend together! Share your snapshots and stories with us online using our hashtag #INBirmingham. Happy Valentine’s Day!
