Every year in the Spring several things happen in Linn Park in the center of downtown Birmingham: the trees put out new growth, the squirrels begin once again to frolic about the place, and more than 200 of the best artists around descend on the park to share their work. If you’ve never attended Magic City Art Connection, the time has come to get connected.

Thirty-four years of art

For almost three and a half decades, what has become Birmingham’s largest art festival has graced our city lawn with the fruits of imaginative artists from all across the nation.

This April 28th through 30th, tents lining the shaded walks of Linn Park will be bedecked with everything from paintings and sculpture to photography, jewelry, and high-design furniture. Here, woodworkers, weavers, and metalworkers share their art with patrons and art aficionados from all over the Southeast.

The Culinary Arts

Complete your Magic City Art Connection experience with tickets to Corks & Chefs, a tasting event featuring 15 different restaurants, wine imports from 4 vineyards, craft beers from all of our local brewers and a number of others, and craft cocktails.

The Musical Arts

Nothing makes a day at the park – especially a park filled with works of art – like live music. If you’re not into Corks & Chefs, grab a bite to eat at the Park Place Cafe, which will feature fare from a number of local restaurants and caterers, and take in the musical airs of some of our local musicians at Centre Stage, wander up to some serene acoustic performances at Cornerstone Stages, or kick up your heels to some dance tunes at the Backyard Production Stage.

Tap into your artistic you

Try your own hand at the visual arts at any one of a number of different workshops at Magic City Art Connection’s Imagination Festival. Here, kids old and young get their art on by doing everything from impressionistic painting to photomontage to junk art sculpture – the perfect addition to a family day in the park.

Schedule an extra day

With all there is to do in Birmingham, you might want to schedule an extra day to visit the Birmingham Museum of Art, or any number of smaller galleries scattered throughout the city. And, while you’re at it, you’ll want to take in our robust food and beverage scene, with restaurants ranging from gourmet hotdog joints to James Beard Award-winning restaurants, and bars featuring some of the finest cocktail crafters in the South.
