5. Alabama Theatre Built in 1927, the Alabama Theatre is one of the nation s last operating movie palaces, featuring first-run and revival films, concerts and other special events. 6. Alabama Veteran s Memorial Amid peaceful Alabama woodlands, you can peruse the names of Alabamians lost to war. A time line in the Memorial walkway outlines historic events of the 20th and 21st centuries, visitors will find descriptions of Alabama s 23 Medal of Honor recipients of the 20th century, and in the courtyard, Medal of Honor stories appear on columns with artwork and letters.
