A new $70 million sports complex is in the works for the Birmingham suburb of Hoover. Plans for the complex include six soccer/lacrosse/football fields, eight softball/baseball fields, 15 tennis courts and a two-mile track. The facility will also house a 141,000-square-foot indoor space for sports, tradeshows, meetings, banquets and other events. The complex will be built on 120 acres just south of the city of Birmingham and will include a covered walkway connecting it to the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium, a 10,800-seat baseball stadium. A completion date for the Hoover Sportsplex has not yet been announced.
