Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival 2310 1st Ave N 205-324-0888 sidewalkfest.com Honored as one of Time Maga- zine s Film Festivals For The
Rest Of Us, Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival brings new inde- pendent cinema to Birmingham each August. Sidewalk attracts filmmakers from across the country and the globe to screen their work before enthusiastic crowds in one of nine venues within the city s historic Theatre District. The flagship venue is
the Alabama Theatre, a 2,200- seat movie palace built in 1927 by Paramount. During the festival, guests enjoy parties, panels, workshops and a live music lounge. Sidewalk is the highlight of my year! Downtown comes alive in a whole new way. Filmmakers from around the world mingle with the attendees on the sidewalks and in the theatres. They bring with them a slew of films that Alabama would probably never get a chance to see otherwise. Katy C.
